Large bedroom with private bath in Watsonville

3+ Month renter

I so enjoyed living in this beautiful space at Barbara's! VERY spacious w/ many windows which open to a large backyard where I was able to enjoy the views of pretty plants & the breeze. Private room/bathroom are in the backside of the house w/ a door that closes off for extra privacy. I used all the appliances and dishes in the house without need to bring my own, was supplied with starter toiletries, soap & sponge for kitchen, and used the cookware. That was great and made travel easy! Safe neighborhood w/ lots of walkable paths I enjoyed going out on, super close to shops, & to the hospital I commuted to for work. Barbaras easy going & I had no problems with communication, I came and went as I pleased, had guests stay, & was able to chat with her, all totally pleasant interactions! I felt safe & w/ working night shift was able to sleep w/o being woken. The house is quiet & my sleep time was always respected which I appreciate. If I work in the area again Id rent here again!

Early Departure Due to Communication Dynamics and Livability Issues

Shortly after moving in, I encountered livability issues, including sealed or difficult-to-open windows in both the bedroom and bathroom, which limited ventilation. When I raised these concerns, communication escalated rather than remaining focused on resolving the issue. Interactions early in the stay became tense and confrontational. In-person communication included raised tone, dismissive responses, and behavior that came across as intimidating, which made it difficult to address concerns constructively. This pattern began within the first two weeks of tenancy and did not improve. Due to this environment and communication dynamic, I did not feel comfortable continuing the tenancy and chose to leave early. Future renters may want to carefully consider communication style and expectations, as this may not be suitable for those seeking a calm, professional, and collaborative rental experience.
