Disappointing experience and misleading listing details

Posting this to help future renters make an informed decision. At move in, the entry area and unit had pests, including flies, spiders, and cockroaches. I had to buy bug spray myself and pest control was never arranged. Communication was unreliable. When I reported a refrigerator issue, my message was left on read and I handled it myself. One night the heat failed, smoke filled the unit, and the smoke alarm went off. Heat was not restored until the next evening, and only temporary space heaters were provided. The unit was advertised to me on Facebook as having high speed fiber internet and this was verbally confirmed, but in reality it was very slow and shut off nightly at 8 PM. This was not disclosed before move in and I was told to buy my own plan. At move out, despite my lease ending at 11:59 PM, I was repeatedly pressured to leave early to allow cleaning for the next tenant and confronted late at night with a raised voice. Overpriced and not recommended.

We take all feedback seriously and want to clarify several important points for future renters. First, this tenant did not find or book the property through Furnished Finder. He was sourced through Facebook and later created an account after his tenancy ended solely to post this review. Regarding pests: this is an owner-occupied property, and there has never been a history of cockroaches, infestations, or pest issues in the building. During the tenants six-month stay, no pest concerns of any kind were ever communicated or reported. These claims are inaccurate. Claims of poor communication are also inaccurate. This is a three-family, owner-occupied property, and I personally handled tenant communication and the majority of issues. Messages were responded to promptly throughout the lease. The heating issue referenced was caused by the tenants own actions. Bathroom vents were covered with floor mats, and paper towels were drawn into the return vent, restricting airflow and triggering a system shutdown as a safety measure. This was not a property defect. Space heaters were provided immediately, and the system was repaired and fully restored the following day. The refrigerator message referenced involved assistance with reinstalling interior shelving. The refrigerator itself was fully functional and not experiencing any mechanical issue. The difficulty arose from the tenant being unable to complete this basic adjustment independently. Internet service was provided as a courtesy. While service was functional, speeds varied at times due to the provider. The tenant ultimately chose to obtain private service, which he was always free to do. No pressure was applied on our part. Concerning move-out: the lease ended at 11:59 PM, and the tenant vacated at 11:51 PM, within the allowed timeframe. Prior to move-out, we had a verbal understanding that he would leave earlier in the afternoon so the unit could be cleaned for the next tenant. Based on that understanding, the security deposit was returned early in good faith. After inspection, damage was discovered to two pillows and their covers that had been burned after the tenant placed them directly against a closet light fixture. This was the result of improper use of the space and created a potential fire hazard due to the tenants actions. Additionally, the unit required extensive deep cleaning due to significant dust buildup, including within ventilation areas, which affected HVAC airflow. The only incident involving raised voices occurred when I knocked on the tenants door to confirm his departure time. He repeatedly stated that his lease ended at 11:59 PM and slammed the door. This conduct was unprofessional. Lastly, the rental rate of $2,150 included water, gas, electric, off-street parking, and basement washer and dryer, which is consistent with market pricing for a furnished one-bedroom in this area. We regret that this tenant feels dissatisfied; however, the statements in this review do not accurately reflect the circumstances of his stay or the condition of the apartment. This place is great!! I stayed there for ten months and loved it. It is a great, clean, and well equipped place. As a girl living alone, I feel safe at all times. Nicole and Jonathan are great landlords who were quick to respond and very attentive to anything I needed. I'd highly recommend this spot and if I ever move back to the area, I would love to stay here again.

Loved this rent!

We loved staying here!! It's a cozy apartment that fit all our needs. The home is located in a safe small town with plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Nikki and Jonathan were amazing landlords that were nearby if we needed anything, but not overbearing. The large backyard and nearby sidewalks were perfect for our dog. We would definitely recommend to anyone needing short term rental!!

Highly recommend for a cozy and comfortable stay!

I had a wonderful 3 month stay in this charming apartment. It had everything I needed to feel at home. The black out curtains in the bedroom were a major plus! The fully equipped kitchen and convenient laundry facilities were great for a long-term stay. Its prime location, within walking distance of markets, parks and close to all the major highways, added to the overall convenience. Highly recommended for a cozy and comfortable stay!
