Right in the middle of it all! I moved to LA for a contract at CHLA. never had to worry about traffic (6 min drive). Walkable to Silverlake/Echo Park/Los Feliz. I was a little worried about the unit before hand do to not being familiar with the area and the price being so reasonable. Jesse the landlord called and talked to me about the area and even agreed to do a month to month lease since I couldn't view the unit before hand. AMAZING location, who knew LA can be a walkable city. Neighbors on the front half of the property were very kind. Jesse the landlord was VERY responsive. Hot water was lukewarm one day and he had it fixed by that afternoon. Never had issues with parking (parking pass for the street). Has laundry, parking, and an outdoor space. Great deal for this neighborhood. Would have definitely stayed longer but my roommate was leaving. Would definitely rent from Jesse again!
I had a very frustrating experience living in this property. The heating broke almost immediately after I moved in, and smoke was actually coming out of the heater. When I reached out to the landlord about this serious issue, his only response was to suggest buying space heaterswhich I had to rely on for the entire winter. There were also repeated issues with the hot water, including long periods when there was none at all. Each time I asked for repairs, the landlord responded with irritation and little to no urgency to fix the problem. On top of that, he withheld half of my security deposit, claiming a $250 cleaning feedespite the fact that I had already paid a $300 cleaning fee when I first moved in. Ive raised these concerns multiple times, and unfortunately, he has not been responsive or taken any responsibility. I would not recommend renting from this landlord. The lack of basic maintenance, poor communication, and questionable handling of deposits made this a very disappointing rental experience.
