Unfair

I rented this house for roughly 2 weeks. Prior to moving in (almost a month prior) I immediately sent 1100 for deposits, pet fees and cleaning. I spoke with the landlord and he said that its definitely held for me and I would pay 1800 rent on 9/16/2025. I at first wasnt going to do that but unfortunately I asked if the offer still stands. He agreed and on move in date he asks for 900. I give him the money. Fast forward two weeks, my husband was shot in the line of duty and I had to resign my job and leave. Devastatingly he died as a result of the injuries he sustained. I notified my landlord and since I cleaned the house, everything was spotless I was there for 2 weeks he will not return my refund or even partial amount. I just think its immoral and I read the lease as he referred me back to and there is no such wording or anything specific regarding this matter. It was a decent place to live, but I think the way he handled this situation is wrong. So renter beware.
