I had signed a 3 week leases for a Unit B and a Unit J. All owed by the LL and her son. Halfway to Connecticut (1000miles) I was told that they had forgotten" about me and I had to stay in this cottage for 2 days and could then move to Unit J. I had to find an hotel for the Saturday night. No apology or mention of the contracts or deposits paid. The living area is beautifully decorated as is the kitchen but that is where it stops. The fridge had left overs from a restaurant, other food, opened drinks, the freezer had opened freezer burnt meat as well as being filthy. I was told to help myself to anything in the fridge. How disgusting !! The towels were wet and musty smelling obviously used by the last tenant, no toilet paper but I had my own. Unpleasant smell drifting up from the basement due to wild animals ? The LL allowed the next extremely rude tenants to move in before I could vacate, despite an agreement due to working when I could move out. Very unpleasant experience.

I moved in the day after the above reviewer did, but they were smart and got out of there. I was in a position where I couldn't move immediately, and had to deal with constant construction workers coming in and out of the home, as well as the landlord showing up with her 3 dogs unannounced. The first few nights, I had no hot water or water pressure, the water coming out of the bathroom faucet was rust-colored, and the back door had a huge dog door that a person or bear could fit through. I finally found another place to live but it's been an absolute nightmare are. Don't get suckered!

I am hurt by Ms review considering she stayed at my property for sixteen nights and never paid a day of rent. She created a punch list of items she wanted done and then when I immediately had contractors on site to install any item she asked for, she complained about contractors being on site. And claimed that was reason why I should host her for free. This person has no right to review the property as she was not a paying guest, but a squatter who just kept promising to pay rent and never did. She also insulted me personally and even dissed my own mom for bending over backward bringing her supplies. Please see Airbnb reviews which contradict her untruthful and mean spirited statements. I wish her luck in her quest of finding free housing.

I was told that I could move into this property then all of a sudden contract work was being done when I finally arrived at the unit there was at least one to two months of contract work that still needed to be done nothing was the way it was in the pictures the owner seems to think that it is comfortable and that as long as there's a roof over your head with hot water that that should be enough and it's not when there are bears in the area and there's still no Back Fence like it says there was and I had a dog the owner even though I never say to the place refuses to give me any of my money back. the other property she put me in was consistently covered in bugs and she still thinks that that is a comfortable place to stay she is not prepared by any means to have people staying long term with supplies that needed until I said what was needed in the process of hiring a lawyer unless she gives me my money back and then I will remove my review

Unfortunately, this guest was unhappy with the natural environment of a lake cottage. We are in a lake community with woods abound where wildlife lives. We have frogs hopping though through the yard, fox dens in the rocky cliffs, and bear that make their homes by the lake. Avon is one of CTs towns with the most bear sittings, so these creatures are often visible. The difference between the cottage now and in the pictures is that the living room ceiling has been converted to tongue and groove beamed cathedral. The floors have been lightened by sanding, trim has been redone and furniture upgraded. When this guest moved in, we had contractors finishing trim and putting a new coat of paint throughout the cottage. Although we offered to do this at her convenience, this was unacceptable and unfortunately, due to bear and contractor sightings, she decided to terminate her contract and leave. We do not ask for first/last months rent up front to keep costs low so do not offer refunds.
