Great cozy space!
I stayed here for about 2 months and felt very comfortable. It was nice to have a balcony so I wouldn't have to go downstairs to get fresh air. Kym is a very sweet person too! She made me the utmost comfortable and assured me that her space was my space. It was like having a friend to live with! The room is very cozy and private. The area is close to about everything. I was able to walk and ride my bike to the train station to go to work. Saved money on gas by leaving my car parked. I recommend Kym for sure. It's nice to have someone so friendly and welcoming! I felt like I was at home.
Great stay near Pali Momi Hospital
I stayed here during my medical observership at Pali Momi Hospital, and the location was perfect about a 20-minute easy walk. The house had everything I needed, including a rice cooker, and Kym even brought me Thai jasmine rice. As someone from Asia, where rice is so important, I truly appreciated that. I had my own fridge and cupboard space, the room had AC and a TV, and the shared bathroom was always clean and available. Kym was a wonderful host, always checking if I needed anything, and she even offered me a ride to the airport. I'm personally not very familiar with pets, but I grew to like Bobbi (her dog) and the cat; they never disturbed me and I felt safe with them in the house. The house is by a main road, so you may hear traffic noise or feel vibrations, and the AC can be a bit noisy, but it cools well in summer and nights are naturally cool. Theres also a short cleaning checklist before leaving, which is reasonable to leave the room as it was.
Outstanding hospitality
What a wonderful experience I had staying here. It is clean and organized space and I always felt very comfortable during my stay. The shared spaces are inviting and beautifully maintained. The photos of the unit are accurate and I appreciated having an air conditioner in my room for hot weather. The owner is very responsive to any questions and excellent about communicating if there is a guest or a repair person coming. The neighborhood feels safe and has lots of easy access to everything you need. The owner is very personable and easy going. It always felt so good to come home and relax after a long day.
Great landing pad
I stayed here for a little over a month after moving to Oahu. I was a little nervous about living with roommates again but by the end I didn't want to leave! Kym was a great host who made me feel very welcome. The bedroom AC unit definitely came in clutch for those hot summer nights. The dog and cat who live there are very friendly and well-behaved. The location is super convenient - very close to the H-1 and to a supermarket plus the Pearlridge mall. It was the perfect furnished place to stay while I looked for my own apartment. I would definitely recommend this host and room experience.
Worst experience
My worst experience renting a room. I was supposed to rent a room in a 3 BR duplex with the owner and another professional. The owner texted me late at night/early morning, the dishwasher was overloaded so dishes wouldnt get clean, so I bought paper plates and owner ran the AC a TOTAL of 3 days in 9 weeks. Halfway through my rental, the owner's teenage daughter moved in and they both took over the living room. I only had access to the kitchen and my bedroom. When the owner left on 2 vacations, I had to take care of her cat and dog. Despite getting some money, it wasnt what I signed up for. The checkout list included machine washing the curtains, a large area rug under the bed and the shower curtain among other things. The owner cleared out the lazy suzanne of her stuff and the previous tenant and told me that I needed to wipe it down. I got my full deposit back, but I felt like a maid and left a week early. It was hard to work/sleep with all the road noise too. Be aware.
