We live on the property, however this is a whole house with no shared spaces. Private entrance, lots of natural light, ocean views from west facing windows. The mid century style of this home was carefully preserved. Located on a very quiet str...

Beautiful, cozy home in charming beach town!
This charming beach rental was the perfect getaway! You can tell that the hosts really take pride in their home. The location is unbeatable, just a short walk from Moonlight State Beach and local mom-and-pop shops and great food. We barely drove, as most things can be found within walking distance. Some local gems we found were Raul’s Mexican, VG’s donuts (the maple is incredible), the Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens which are free to enter, JoJo’s ice cream, Chin’s, and Everest Himalayan. The Coaster Commuter Train allowed us to explore surrounding beach communities and downtown San Diego. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the home was exceptionally well-stocked with everything we needed and even included some beach gear. We also appreciated the dedicated parking spot and the outdoor spaces on the back patio and front porch. We loved the clean, cozy vibe and can't wait to return!
Great Stay!
Our month stay at the Midcentury Retreat in Encinitas was delightful. The house suited us well with a fully furnished kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms, a laundry room, a large seating area and dining room. The owners thoughtfully anticipated our needs, providing beach chairs, umbrellas, sun hats, and beach towels for our use. The house is conveniently located just a block and a half from main street – a short walk from excellent restaurants, vendors, and beaches and with simple access to great bike trails.
Salt Air, the kindest Hosts, and a Place That Feels Right
This was our third stay and it continues to be our favorite place to stay. The hosts, Leilani and Eric are wonderful—friendly, responsive, and thoughtful. They genuinely care about their guests’ comfort. The rental is always spotless, comfortable, and well equipped, and it truly feels like a home away from home. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the kitchen is better stocked than any rental we’ve stayed in. Every detail is taken care of, making the stay completely stress-free. One of the biggest highlights is the location: it’s within easy walking distance to the beach, great restaurants, and the train, which makes getting around incredibly convenient. A typical work day for us ends with a walk to Swami's to watch the surfers from the cliffside park or a short walk to Moonlight Beach at sunset. We keep coming back because we know exactly what to expect: a warm welcome, a beautiful space, and a relaxing experience. We highly recommend this rental and look forward to staying again.
Great Location, but Major Noise and Cleanliness Concerns
I return to Encinitas a lot, so Im familiar with the area and I love it. We wanted this stay to work out. But, it fell short in several ways.the unit was not properly cleaned. There were visible toilet stains, dog hair, and spider webs everywhere, which made it uncomfortable. The biggest issue was the train noise. Having lived in Leucadia & Cardiff, I was not prepared for how extremely loud and constant it was at this rental. The tracks run so close, and the noise level throughout the night made it impossible to sleep. The listing only includes a brief mention at the bottom about possible train noise, but that description does not reflect the actual intensity. The host kindly offered sleep aids, but the problem wasnt falling asleep.Had this been clearly communicated, we would have chosen a different place. Also the flexibility felt a bit rigid, which added to it.Encinitas is special, and I hope future guests can get a clearer understanding of what to expect.
