Good location, low quality furniture & neglected home

Avoid this rental. The landlord ignores North Carolina law, and uses security deposits to fund property upgrades. Legal Violations Under NC law, landlords must return deposits within 30 days (max 60 with notice). This landlord waited 61 days to return only $850 of a $3,000 deposit. She also failed to provide documentation of where the funds were held and provided zero professional estimates from licensed contractors for her claims. Fabricated Property Issues Electrical ($650): Charged for the "look" of a wiring box in the garage. I never touched the electrical system; these were internal infrastructure issues she rebranded as "tenant damage." Appliances ($150): Charged for "misusing" an ancient dryer that was broken since the first week. It’s an inefficient unit at the end of its life cycle, not tenant neglect. Furniture ($1,200): Charged for a replacement of two old faux-leather couches over a minor scratch on the back of one. I hope to never interact with this landlord again.
