Oakwood neighborhood. The Oakwood neighborhood is a wooded, park-like historic neighborhood. It is walking distance of lovely, downtown Hickory (main area is called Union Square), with community events, restaurants, and shops. It is very near Frye Regional Medical Center and Lenoir-Rhyne University.
Unique and comfy!
I had the pleasure of staying here for a few nights with my spouse and 5 year old son. For starters, the master bed is so comfy. I asked the owner what brand it was (Purple matress!) so I could buy one for our own home. This rental has so many fun things like a physical media collection and the most enchanting backyard sitting area. At night, solar lights decorate the patio and the lush green lawn is perfect for watching fireflies. We had a great stay and my little one keeps asking when we can go back to "that cool hotel with the Legos". We would definitely stay here again!
Big Mistake to rent this!
The landlords & their 2 dogs live upstairs. They are noisy & there 24/7. They control the temp in the basement appt. & we were always cold. Beds were comfy but living room furniture left a lot to be desired. We were so uncomfortable, we left a week early.
Great spot!
Safe neighborhood with easy access to everything. I have been a traveling veterinary student for this entire year going to different locations across the southeast. This place had everything! I picked it for the fenced yard, location, and the fact that it had real kitchen equipment and a washer and dryer. I found myself at other spots really missing those staples. Lee and his wife were friendly and kind, willing to help out whenever needed. I even left my contacts on accident and Lee shipped them to my next location! My dog loved the backyard and being able to run around. We also loved walking around the neighborhood every day, as this is in a historical district with gorgeous homes. Overall would recommend this spot!
