Disappointing Stay Despite Convenient Location
I stayed at this property for a locums assignment. Prior to move-in, the owner sent a video that appeared consistent with the listing photos. However, upon arrival, I was disappointed by the condition and cleanliness of the unit.
The bed appeared as though it had already been slept in. The sheets were poorly fitted, the pillows were flat and lumpy, and the comforter was worn with a hole in it. There were cobwebs in multiple areas of the home, including behind the bedroom door, under the bathroom cabinet, and on the ceiling fan pull strings. While wiping down the bathroom counter, I found hairs and debris left behind.
The biggest issue was noise. Footsteps, movement, and cats from the upstairs unit were clearly audible throughout the day and late at night, often waking me before my alarm.
The location is convenient to downtown Asheville, restaurants, shopping, and parks, but due to the cleanliness concerns and noise level, I chose to vacate early.
Hi Kimber. I think its necessary to respond to this review as its unfortunately not representative of the property. I want to start by clarifying that we had no contact at all prior to your arrival and the entire booking and payment was via your locums company.
Your locums representative reached out to me and requested a 30 day booking to move in within 5 days. I let the representative know that the unit was occupied and would be available three days after the requested move in, due to both our cleaners availability and previously scheduled repairs taking place in the upstairs unit. Your representative asked on multiple occasions if we could do anything to reschedule both and suggested you move in without the unit being cleaned. I let her know that unfortunately would not be possible as we have a standard process we follow with move in and move out cleans. I was able to call a backup cleaner who could accommodate a Sunday morning clean last minute but reminded your representative that it would still be noisy for a few days. She shared that it was not an issue and again suggested not to worry about a deep cleaning which I pushed back on. My cleaner came and cleaned the unit appropriately.
You moved into the property without any issues on day of move in. Your representative reached out the following day and shared you were not satisfied with the cleanliness of the unit. My cleaner confirmed that sheets were replaced with brand new sheets and a full clean was completed. I asked your representative what the specific issue was and she shared that she was not sure. After seeing your comments here, it looks like you saw a cobb web behind a door and at the back of a cabinet that was missed. Either way, I strive to provide comfortable accommodations for my travelers as Im incredibly thankful for the hard work they do and for staffing our local hospitals. I let the representative know that I would get in touch with my cleaners to come back for another deep clean. She specifically requested cleaners come at a specific day and time which I worked to accommodate. I texted you and confirmed the time the cleaners would be arriving.
Two days later, I received a message and call from your locums representative sharing that there was excess noise from the other unit and that there was a dog. No dog lives on the property so Im not sure where this came from. I reminded your representative that we had discussed there would be maintenance and increased noise due to appliances being relocated upstairs. This was the reason I suggested waiting to move in. The representative shared that you wanted to move out at 5 PM that day (4 hours later) and to cancel the cleaning. That appeared to be the end of the tenancy until your representative reached back out later that night and said you would be staying. You remained in the unit for 7 more days before moving out.
I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay and think that there may have been significant miscommunication with the involvement of your locum representative.
