Dirty & unsafe

I paid 2 extra weeks of rent before I moved in because the landlord insisted on starting the lease on the 15th, when I couldn't get there until the 1st. When I moved in, there was mouse poop on the floor and counters, and cat poop smeared along baseboards and under every piece of furniture. I scrubbed the whole house. I had to buy baking pans, kitchen items, linens, and I bought a new curtain because there was cat poop on that too. I wondered why there was sloppy plaster on the ceiling of the bathroom until one day, water started pouring out of the light fixture in the middle of the bathroom, multiple gallons. I was told just to talk to my upstairs neighbor about it, who had "fixed it last time." And no one seemed concerned except me about water combined with electrical. The sliding door didn't lock. One day, I got home from work and foam was overflowing out of the toilet. I still haven't gotten my $500 security deposit back, despite calling, emailing, and texting the landlord.
