Had worst experience here: Host is a bully, mean person, will make ur stay a misery
- Doesn't respect personal space, always talking on the phone loudly,TV is on in loud volume and will be knocking on ur room all the time to tell u non important issues that can be texted.Never respected my personal space at all! Had no peace!Entire 3 week stay was misery, couldn't finish 1 month!
- Never informed me there was a male relative staying in the house, this relative will try to befriend you and insists even when u say no,u don't want to talk to him.
- Wants to command/ control guest, telling u to clean bathroom (i had been been there for 5 days when she was telling me this) almost like idk im supposed to do this- then proceeds to tell me she thought im her daughters age ( meaning she can talk to me anyhow because I'm younger than her)
- Has a long driveway that can fit 4 vehicles but will never let u park there, wants u to park in the streets.
it's only that I can't give 0 star review,i would have!!
I have been an employee in the hospitality industry for over thirty years, and I have been in my current position for approximately nineteen years. Im sharing a bit of my professional life with you, the prospective renters, to contrast it with that of Ms. Mari, a description of me. Ms. Mari was to arrive on the evening of March 07, 2025, at which time I was in the basement with my young cousin doing some repairs in the room down there. My phone rang; I answered, and she was in the front yard. I hurried, went, and got her; we came inside, where I showed her the room and space on the first floor that she would be using. I took her to the basement, where I introduced her to my cousin, who was doing the repairs. We returned upstairs. I explained that I was fixing the room because a relative who lost his job ran into some financial difficulties, so Im helping him until he is back on his feet again. She didnt seem bothered at the time, so I thought nothing of it.
Parking:
Ms. Mari expressed that she needed to get some things at the supermarket, and that she had her car shipped to her, and asked if she could park it in the driveway. First, I told her that Ill take her to the supermarket. Secondly, I explained to her that I didnt mind, but I do work the 11 pm to 7 am shift in NYC. She then said, "Well work it out." I then asked her if she knew what shift she would be working; she told me that her shift would be 7 pm to 7 am, which meant that she would leave and return home before I would. Things appeared to be working out just fine. Until one morning, I came, and she was parked in the driveway, so I had to park on the street. Because had I parked behind her, she would have needed to wake me to move my car so she could leave for work. She did so three times that week. And so, that third morning, I was in the hallway talking on her phone and approached her to let her know she shouldnt park anymore in the driveway as it prevented me from coming and going. But before I could open my mouth, she went into the room, closing the door in my face. She said if I had anything to say, I should text her; that when I told her, she could stay, as Im not going to deal with the disrespect anymore.
Bathroom accident:
Ms. Mari had asked me for an extra blanket. I went into the bathroom closet where it was stored, at which time I noticed that she had had an accident and called her to show her and to explain to her that she should try to be more careful because I was expecting another renter who would be sharing the bathroom with her. She listened but didnt respond to me, so I gave her the blanket. The following morning, when I got home from work, she was in the kitchen, and I said good morning as I usually do, but she did not answer me. I asked her if there was something wrong. She then told me she didnt like the way I spoke to her the day before because she was embarrassed. I immediately apologized to her and let her know that it wasnt my intention to cause her any embarrassment.
Kitchen cooking & vent:
My cousin came in from work one evening; he called out, asking why the refrigerator door was left open. I told him I was getting ready for work and I hadnt been downstairs, then added that Mari must have been in a hurry and forgotten to close it. However, two days later, I was off from work, and while sitting at the dining table, she came into the kitchen, took stuff out of the refrigerator, and began preparing her meal for work while leaving the refrigerator door open, even though she saw me sitting there. I didnt say anything to her; I got up and closed it because she has a temper and a disrespectful tone in the way she communicates.
Door lock
I was visiting with my family in New York, one Saturday afternoon, when I received from Mari shouting while saying, You left her alone in the house with a man, and now Im locked out, and the keys are inside. I said to her that the door cant be locked unless you lock it. I then asked her where she was outside. She then said it isnt the house but her room door, at which time I said, "You must have locked it in error." She then told me the door doesnt have a lock on the inside. I insisted it does have one. She said, Im going to break the door down. I asked her not to do that and to let me call my cousin to help with opening the door, and Im on my way there. I called my cousin and asked him to see what he could do to open the door. He did, and she went into the room and returned, locking herself out once again. At this point, I asked him to show her the switch on the lock when he finished opening it again. I had asked him to let me speak with her, and she told him that she didnt want to speak to me. An hour later, when I got home, she was in the kitchen cooking, and I asked her why she refused to speak with me. She said when I should text anything I have to say to her, I told her I wasnt going to do any such thing. She then went into her room and returned shortly after, saying, You dont know where Im from and what I have been through. I told her that she was right; I dont know and cannot know unless Im told.
