Safe and affordable
Greatly enjoyed our stay here. The house was very clean and the neighborhood was a safe area to live in. The landlord was also very responsive and helpful with any issues that came up.
Host will not return full deposit. I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with this stay was deeply disappointing and unfair. The home itself was fine, but the real issue came after checkout when the host withheld part of my deposit without any prior notice or explanation. I only found out after the return deadline had passed that I wouldnt be getting the full amount back. When I reached out for clarification, I was told that deductions were made for things like trash bags and laundry detergent that I had used during my stay basic household items that were left out and I would expect to be included in any furnished rental, but was expected to be replaced so I assume theyre decor. I was also charged for a broken seal inside the toilet tank, which I had made known to the host, but I guess it was my responsibility to repair her appliances which break due to wear and tear. To make matters worse, I was accused of taking towels. At no point was I asked about this before the charge was made no photos, no confirmation, no discussion. Just an unexplained deduction from my deposit. None of these issues were listed in the lease as things which I could potentially lose my deposit for. This kind of nickel-and-diming and lack of communication is unacceptable. It left a bad taste after what was otherwise a decent stay. Renters beware keep very detailed records and dont expect your full deposit back, even if you leave the place spotless.
