Don't count on getting your full deposit back

I was upfront with my landlord and I told him it would be about a 3 month stay. When I started using the apartment he wasn't transparent in his expectations about stay and pay. When I needed to pull out of the verbal contract he charged me $350 from my deposit telling me that because of my stay he had to pull his account from furnished findings and that it was my fault for him pulling his own account and that he had to charge me for the activation fees. That was not my doing and him charging me for that was completely uncalled for. My advice to the next tenant.... get a written contract and be get transparent expectations from him!
