Unsafe & stressful stay

Deceptive and unsafe rental. Issues began immediately after signing. Advertised with AC and pest-freebut it had only a useless ice cooler, broken stove, unvented dryer, missing floorboards, no smoke detectors, termites, and severe pest infestation. Bugs crawled on me at night. No airflow. The landlords next door are aggressiveslamming doors, leaving harassing notes, and involving police. They monitor with cameras, enter without notice, and raised rent $500 after forcing a month-to-month lease. They kept my deposit and cleaning fee despite the unit being filthy and unsafe. The gate doesnt even lock. When I asked for a prorated refund, they threatened me. The landlords mother constantly interferes, reversing agreements and escalating conflict. This violates Hawaiis HRS 521. Uninhabitable conditions (8188F with no AC). I left immediately. Psychologically and physically unsafe. Avoid this property at all costs.

Upcountry Comfy

Peters apartment is delightfulcozy, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need and nothing you dont. Theres ample space for your clothes, a sturdy table if you need to work, and strong internet. The neighborhood is quiet, with neighbors youd hardly know were there, aside from the occasional barking dog youd expect in any residential area. The location is convenientclose to town, though the walk back does take you up a hill. The photos are accurate, but one pleasant surprise is the high ceiling, which makes the space feel larger and more open. Peter himself is wonderfulalways smiling, helpful, and a great landlord as well as neighbor. Id highly recommend connecting with him, whether in person or even over Zoom, to get a feel for the space.
