When the owner handed over the house, it was a disaster; it was dirty and full of the previous tenants' personal belongings. Even though we had paid the owner a cleaning fee along with the deposit and the first month's rent, we had to clean the house ourselves because everything on the property was disgusting. In the bathrooms, there were all the previous tenants' personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, razors, scissors, nose hair trimmers, and even two sets of dentures). We had never been in such a disastrous place. The refrigerator was full of flies and had fly eggs stuck everywhere; we had to take it apart, clean it, and disinfect it thoroughly. However, we decided to stay because we had already paid the owner and needed a place to live with our three children while the closing for the purchase of our house was finalized.
