Misleading Terms

READ BEFORE RENTING Beware of misleading terms. A few major things to note before signing a lease: Surprise Roommate: Listed as a 2-bedroom, but an older man already lives here. You will not be made aware until you move in. It completely changes the shared amenity dynamic. Unlisted Pet: The listing says NO PETS, but the resident has a dog. Avoid if you have allergies (my roommate does and we weren't told until arrival). Smoking: Listing says no smoking, but there's a frequent, strong odor of marijuana. Deceptive AC: There is a single wall unit in the far corner away from bedrooms; cool air doesn't reach them. Plus, whenever I turned it on, someone else would turn it off (wasn't my chosen roommate). The good: Private bedrooms with working TVs/fans, a large common area, and a bathroom shared with your roommate (though the other resident and his partner use it occasionally). My main gripe is that the rental I am paying for.
