Living with your landlord

My main reason for leaving this review is concerns about privacy, boundaries, and safety based on my personal experience. During my stay, I had a distressing interaction involving my roommate that made me feel unsafe. She often asked me to help care for her dog, and during one interaction the situation escalated while I was handling the dog. Voices were raised and there was physical contact involved in a way that left me shaken. The roommate is the co-owner and lives on-site, and in my experience there were daily entries into my room while I was not home despite the lease stating entry would only occur for emergencies or repairs. I raised concerns and suggested scheduled walkthroughs, but nothing changed. Shared spaces did not always feel fully shared, and personal belongings from my bathroom and shared areas were discarded without notice. The location is convenient and affordable for UCSD, but I would recommend clarifying expectations around privacy before moving in.
